"Tianmo" (Natural Desert, a desert formed within recent years) is no more than 70 kilometers from the center of Beijing. The windy and dusty line give rise to severe sand and dust pollution in Beijing frequently. There are 4 sandy belts, which cover 0.9 million mu of shifting dunes, in Weichang County, northeast of Beijing. They are moving forward with 26.4 meters per year in the direction of southeast and seriously affect eco-environment problems of Beijing and Tianjin. *** Local Caption *** The "Tianmo" is also a kind of amusement park where guest can enjoy a ride on a camel or horse as slide with little sled down the dune. Dry plants try to survive on the edge of the dunes. The trees are planted by the Army.
