*** Local Caption *** Tung Chung township, formerly a rural town, is situated on Lantau Island. Developed as part of the Airport Core Program, the North Lantau New Town is the first new town on an outlying island of Hong Kong. The accommodation of the people started few years ago, 2001. The relocation of the international airport accelerated the development of Tung Chung (27 minutes away from Hong Kong's Central Business District) to be a residential and commercial hub supporting the permanent and transient community associated with the airport. One of the boy said "Around five, six years ago there weren't anything here, only fhisermen".
